![]() ![]() ![]() Iberia is divided among five rivals kingdoms after the collapse of the former regional hegemon, Castille. The northern seas are dominated by the Kingdom of Denmark–Norway–Pomerania and its vassals, though that kingdom's preeminence is less absolute than it was fifty years earlier, when Ængland and Sweden acknowledged the Danish king's suzerainty. Until then, thanks for reading and commenting! This volume of the story is now complete! I'm hoping to continue my Knýtlinga saga in another volume soon, to be played in March of the Eagles. I will not savescum (and will be thrilled if I can manage to lose a war). I will avoid gamey abuses and try to give the AI room to genuinely challenge me. I will only alter the game state to hurt myself/strengthen my rivals, to make things happen that the game engine can't handle correctly, or to slow the game down as I find a balance I like in the defines. I will roleplay my concept of each monarch, and will try to sometimes make irrational and self-defeating choices when it seems in-character. But, here are some restraints I'll be self-imposing: The story takes priority over the gameplay here. The point is, I will likely intervene and cheat through the console in the course of this game to make things more difficult for myself and to slow down the free-for-all world-conquest chaos that is the vanilla game. My house rules won't be quite as strict as they were in CK2, mainly because the prohibitive difficulty of merging a comprehensive mod with my converted save means that I'll be playing a game not far from vanilla here, which is to say, a game that will be far, far too easy. The current version of the mod can be found here, for the curious it will be updated as I add more content. The game will be played in EUIV version 1.16.3 (Mare Nostrum) mixed with bits of the Extended Vanilla Experience mod, some defines borrowed from MEIOU and Taxes, and lots of modding of my own to make the altered timeline work a little better. In this tale I will be playing from 1444 as the Kingdom of Denmark–Pomerania, the leading power of the North Sea Realm (despite England's recent mutiny), and seeking to become the world's leading mercantile and naval power. I'll try to provide some context as I begin writing this story, but if you're curious the full story is available in my previous AAR! In this timeline the Knýtlinga have retained their throne in Denmark, regained control of Norway, inherited England, conquered Wales and Scotland, gotten elected to rule Sweden, then lost England and Sweden in a disastrous civil war shortly before the end of the CK2 timeframe. Greetings, story-readers! This is a continuation of my previous Crusader Kings 2 AAR, The North Sea Empire, in which I guided the descendants of Cnut the Great and sought to rebuild his once-promising realm. ![]()
